Description
Looking east from Anglesea Street towards the Chief Post Office.(Now the casino). The Hamilton City Council Municipal buildings are under construction in the foreground. These were between Worley Street on the left and Caro Street on the right. Behind the works is Garden Place which was then a car park. At the left hand corner the Mutual Life Insurance Company building (MLC) was also under construction. Next to it is the Carnegie Library in Victoria Street and at centre the Chief Post Office. At the right is the Colonial Mutual Life building (CML) in Garden Place. The bus on the right is turning into Alexandra Street from one of the roads that used to go through Garden Place. Behind the bus on the corner is Armstrong Motors Ltd., a Ford car dealership.
