Description
The Brighton Private Hotel, previously the Brighton Private Boarding House, was on the northern corner of Anglesea and Thackeray Streets, directly opposite Hood Street. It was later renamed the Midland Hotel. The building was demolished in the early 1970s.
It opened in January 1908, under management of Mrs Kirk (Proprietress) with the building half this size. It became known as the Midland Private Hotel in 1914 with Mrs E.C. Forbes (proprietress). It was extended iin 1915 (architect J E Chitty). The building was demolished in the early 1970s.
The business was also listed as 'boardinghouse'.
