This is the Grandstand that sits on Claudelands Showgrounds today and was moved from its original site of Gwynnelands in Cambridge in 1887. Gwynnelands was approx 450 acres and contained a popular horse race track. More research may reveal it was owned by Richard and Sarah Gwynne who owned Gwynnes Hotels in Te Awamutu and Hamilton Cental. The current restoration of Gwynnes Hotel (it was rebuilt after two fires and changed ownership) will be the new Waikato Regional Theatre.
