Description
Half portrait in officers uniform with medals one of which appears to be Indian Mutiny medal 1857-58. McPherson served in the 93rd & 70th Regiments on active service in Crimea and India. He arrived in Hamilton 8 August 1866. Elected first member of parliament for Waikato in 1872, He was later appointed clerk of Waikato County Council in 1877 a position he held until his death in 22 August 1905.
