This photograph shows Ellis & Burnand's two A&G Price built, sixteen wheeler locomotives. Rather early in the construction of the No.9 tram up the Manganoto Stream valley. Probably 1923. The culvert in the foreground was soon washed out and replaced with a bridge that lasted till the end of the tramway. The two locomotives were named Martha and Matilda. Matilda being the one on the bridge over the cutting.
