Description
Large crowd with several tents for refreshments. The first regatta held on the banks of the Waikato River occurred on Saturday, February the 9th, 1907. It was organised by a committee of the Hamilton Rowing Club. The programme included rowing races, Maori canoe races, launch races and swimming races. Competitors came from as far as Auckland. It proved to be a great success and went on to become an annual event, usually held at anniversary weekend.
