Description
View from Victoria Street down Hood Street. Legible business signs on the south side of Hood Street are: Mervyn Adams, "foot specialist"; Larsen, radio sales and services; E.G. Scrimshaw, undertaker; S.T. Nolan, motor trimmer. Across the road is Dunlop. The white building at the end of Hood Street, on the far side of Anglesea Street, is the Midland Private Hotel, formerly the Brighton. The gentleman with the bicycle on the left-hand side of the picture is probably a postman.
On the right, parked beside a small kiosk, is a Ford Zephyr Mk II. It shows the variation of license plates plates in the day - a prefix 'T' indicates 'Taxi'.
