Description
A passenger train crosses the Railway Bridge over the Waikato River while the PS Manuwai steams past on the Waikato River below and a plane flies overhead. This photo is a "composite“ the train and boat are probably correct but the plane is most likely added.

The aircraft at the top of the image is a De Havilland DH.60G Gipsy Moth registration ZK-AAG. That aircraft was registered in New Zealand in January 1929. So that is the earliest this image can be dated. The aircraft crashed and was subsequently scrapped at Cromwell in 1937.

Thanks for that - we now have a good earliest date. When it was these images were cobbled together is still subject only to pure guesswork. The PS Manuwai was also retired and dismantled in the late 1930s so elements of the image are between 1929 and c.1938 (Manuwai). Thanks again for your interest.
