Description
View of Alexandra Street, looking south of east to Hamilton East. The Farmers building is on the corner of Alexandra Street (at the time named Barton Street) off to the right and Collingwood Street on the left. This was formerly Reid's Furnishers. The three storey part of the Farmers building was added in 1956 when owned by Reid's. Along Alexandra Street are: Footwear repairs and A.I. Motors. Compare from HCL_01198 to HCL_01210. In the bottom left is a used car sales yard, beside the former REO Motors building. Visible in the distance are Hood Street and buildings on Victoria Street from the fly-tower of the Embassy Theatre to the Civic theatre and just in view, the Municipal baths. Across the river can be seen St Mary's Cathedral and the Riverina Hotel.
