Description
Quarter portrait: J Reid in unidentified uniform. He may have been a staff officer as he wears gorgets and on his collar and gold oak leaves on his cap in the style of a modern day colonel or brigadier. The larger of his two medals is the 'Volunteer Officers Decoration' (post-nominal: VD) which was awarded to volunteers who were 'efficient and thoroughly capable officers of proven capacity for long and meritorious service'.
