Object Detail

Description
Pomeroy was a total vehicle shop on Alexandra Street. The company built bodies on cars, trucks and buses and did full mechanical repair/service. It also sold new and used motor cars well into the 1960s eventually becoming agents for Morris Motors amongst other things. J. Pomeroy purchased the business of Acme Coach Factory around 1913. This photo is from a printing block (a bromide?) The motor car facing is an Overland of c.1912. The photo is said to be c.1920 but could well be earlier.

My grandfather - Kennedy Francis (Frank) Cooney worked at Pomeroys sometime after he returned from WW1 in France, and my father Brian Cooney (now 93) worked there in the late 40's I believe.
