Description
Waikato Winter Show - Bacon stall 1907. These cadets are marching to the Waikato Winter Show. The photo from a journal shows two pictures of the cadets - one on the way to the show and in the other they are entering the Horse Bazaar at Ward Street. This was the original home of the show. The Hamilton East No 1. School cadets drill team were winners of a competition for manual exercises, bayonet exercises and physical drill. Under the photo it says "The big winter exhibition of the Waikato". An extract from a publication "New Zealand Graphic". It shows the stall that received the award for being the best decorated in the produce exhibits at the Waikato Winter Show. It was presented by the Waikato Bacon Company in the Horse Bazaar. The cured pork and small meat goods included hams, bacon, sausages and pressed tongues.
