Description
Gathering in Garden Place on 9th July 1943 for Lt. General Sir Bernard Freyberg's visit to New Zealand following the Tunisian Campaign. Garden Place was by now a carpark, and the carpark and Victoria Street from Collingwood to Ward Street were closed that morning. Freyberg's visit was extensively reported (arrangements and event) in the Waikato Times during the previous week. The Patriotic Hut is in the background.
