Description
Near the back end of the alleyway from Alexandra St servicing Wesley Chambers and the back entrances to buildings facing Collingwood St. Features a mannequin, an Atlas Copco compressor and two motor vehicles parked in front of a No Parking Day or Night sign - on left is an Austin A35 (1957/62) with an 'L' for light commercial license plate. On right is a Ford Zephyr Mk II carrying dealer's plates over the cars own license plate. the Zephyr has its bonnet up suggesting a 'prospective buyer inspection' going on. The No Parking sign is on the Wesley Chambers building. The corrugated cladding has been removed since this photo was taken. (2024)

Hi Robyn, Absolutely correct - thank you and thanks to the old-timers. The corrugated cladding has gone and there is another row of windows on the building on the left. The original records state Waikato Times but it is most certainly not. Thank you.

A number of old-timers have identified this as an alleyway behind Wesley Chambers, accessed from a lane off Alexandra St (between 52 and 60). I visited there on foot today and it very much looks like the same location. No sign of a glamorous mannequin though!
