Description
Waratah, the Clarence Street home of the Hunter family. The house was built in 1903 for the Hunter family from Ohaupo. It was built on a 10-acre property in Clarence Street that previously belonged to the Searancke family. It also used some timber from the Searancke residence. Mr Hunter, the owner, died the night before the family was to move into the house. Waratah was eventually pulled down due to borer.
