Object Detail

Description
Looking west. On the right is a sign for 'Europa Lube'. This was, until the mid-1980s, a well-known New Zealand petroleum product brand. In the foreground is M. MacDonald (motor repairs), C. Crabb (motor engineer & Warrants of Fitness), Brinkworth's Service Garage (between Crabb and the larger building). Signage beyond is illegible except for McDonald's Ice Cream and, on the far left, Ellis & Burnand Ltd. on the corner of Selkirk (Anglesea Street after 1964) and Bryce Streets. Two Morris Eight cars are in the photo - on the left of the road and almost opposite.
