Object Detail
Description
Ward Street entrance to the Railway Station. A typical pick-up area where taxis, buses and the occasional private car would have collected or set down passengers. The car in the centre is a taxi. The advertising hoardings on the right read: "Hillman Minx", "Reid's Furniture" and "Bycroft Biscuits". An enamel sign attached to the station building just behind the taxi is for Stephens' Ink. As with most railway stations at the time heating was by wood or coal often in open fires but also commonly in 'pot-belly' stoves.
