Object Detail

Description
Flyer produced during a council election campaign. Hamilton was experiencing a shortfall in electricity supply pending the opening of the new hydro-electric plant at Horahora. It was proposed that a loan should be raised to purchase a steam generation plant. Mayor Watts supported the proposal, but J R Fow and others opposed it. In a poll of ratepayers, the proposal was defeated. Mayor Watts resigned, and in the ensuing election Fow was elected.
