One of my forefathers Thomas Edwin PEARSON , who invented sand soap , later the company with his brother. Established in Australia, NZ & UK Very famous award winning product in its day of with the brothers made their fortune He was born Hamilton nz but lived mostly in NSW Australia. But Pearson were builders in Hamilton nz

Thank you Luanne. yes, the name of Pearson is well known in Hamilton. The building originally built by Pearson for the Oddfellows lodge and shortly afterwards used as a sandsoap factory. It still is in use as a cafe and bar.
