This is Fa247, originally built by Vulcan Foundry Ltd as an F class 0-6-0T (saddle tank) locomotive in 1875 and converted to an Fa 0-6-0T (side tank) locomotive at Newmarket railway workshops in 1892. This photograph was taken prior to a subsequent conversion to 0-6-2 by the addition of a trailing truck and an enlarged cab and coal bunker somewhere between 1900 and 1905. Fa247 was written off in September 1929.

Thank you Grant. Yet more history in the number saga for these locos - later converted to Fb then name reverted to Fa. Appreciate your comments.
