Standing in front of the Post Office are: (LtoR) Richard EWEN, Eva GAUDIN (nee Broome), Millicent [Mildred] EWEN (nee Broome) and her husband Vincent EWEN. It is not recorded who if any were post office staff.

Hi Gina, thank you for your comments. A Tamahere School booklet of many years ago actually states the names of the people in the photo. We have now changed the information for that image. The people are recorded as: (LtoR) Richard EWEN, Eva GAUDIN (nee Broome), Millicent [Mildred] EWEN (nee Broome) and her husband Vincent EWEN. Mr & Mrs Vincent Ewen were residents of Tamahere.

One of the ladies in this photo may be Mrs Allport who was the Post Mistress at Tamahere Post Office from 1904 to September1906. My relative Miss Casey took over from Mrs Allport as Post Mistress. My great x 2 grandfather Andrew Casey owned 460 acres on which the Post Office once sat. The original St Stephens Church (now replaced) and the Tamahere Model Country School also were on his property which was known as Burleigh Estate before it was subdivided. He owned the land from 1890 to 1907.
