Object Detail
Description
The Railway Buildings were built in 1920 for New Zealand Railways. Following the departure of NZR staff they housed a number of organisations and retail businesses. Here, at street level, on the corner of Victoria Street and Ward Street is Tracs' megastore. Tracs sold CDs, cassettes, records, concert tickets, posters, t-shirts and more. Next to Tracs is Midas Touch Jewellery, Backdoor Surfshop, and La Croissantiere Lunch Bar. Upstairs in the Railway Buildings is Radio Rhema, a Christian radio station. The top floors of the Government Life building can be seen behind the Railway Buildings.
