Object Detail
Description
55 Victoria Street has long been an extension of the old St Peter's Church Hall which can be seen to the left of the cabbage tree. Number 55 was mainly used by the church as an administrative office. The little cottage at number 65 (then number 17) was occupied in the 1930s by New Zealand Railways plate maker, Edward Vickers. In the 1950s the cottage became known as Old Vic Cottage and it housed an antiques store.
