Wow! Memory lane! I loved going to the 3 old theatres in Hamilton back in the 1980s - the Regent, The Embassy, and The Carlton! I saw 'The Neverending Story' at the Carlton in 1984 as well as a ton of others. It was an absolute tragedy that all 3 of those old theatres were shut down and eventually destroyed. The Embassy was in rough shape but I'm sure the Regent and Carlton could have been refurbished and saved. The lack of interest in saving those historical old buildings is tragic to say the least. Watching movies at the new cinemas in Centreplace was never the same and lacked these old theatres atmosphere. Watching Terminator 2 at the Regent in 1991 was one of my greatest movie going experiences ever, and what's fantastic is that you can actually see photos on this site of the Regent in 1991 when T2 was playing! Amazing! I'm very grateful that Heritage Hamilton have managed to find a few photos from those last days and will be preserving them for prosperity! Much thanks and keep up the great work :)
