A view of a busy Garden Place looking west from Victoria Street. Many people are enjoying the sunshine in the square which is predominantly grass and gardens. Some people are walking along Victoria Street. The square is mainly surrounded by Insurance Buildings with shops underneath; on the left hand side: Colonial Mutual Life Assurance Society Limited (CML), then the DIC Department Store and New Zealand Insurance (NZI). Alexandra Street is at the end. Just over from it we can see the Telephone Exchange in nearby Caro Street. To the right of it is the T & G Life Society building and at the right the Hamilton City Council Municipal Building on Worley Street.
