Object Detail

Description
A busy Garden Place in the centre of Hamilton. The four cars at the front are parked in Victoria Street. The square is mainly surrounded by Insurance Buildings with shops underneath; on the left hand side: Norwich Union Insurance Societies, Colonial Mutual Life Assurance Society Limited (CML), then the DIC Department Store and New Zealand Insurance (NZI). Alexandra Street is at the end. Just over from it we can see the Telephone Exchange in nearby Caro Street. To the right of it is the T & G Life Society building and at the right the Hamilton City Council Municipal Building on Worley Street. At the extreme right the WINTEC is just visible on the other side of Anglesea Street. There are many people in Garden Place enjoying the trees, lawns and sunshine. The sundial can be seen opposite the DIC.
