Description
The Subway Buildings are along Claudelands Road but are accessible from River Road. Currently the address is 181 River Road and the building has been transformed into one shop called 'Bustle'. It has been used for various shops over the years -originally groceries - here it housed a large opportunity shop and a Party/DJ music equipment hire premises.(Music City Disco). We can see that it used to be a launderette. It was called Subway Buildings because the nearby railway used to cross on a bridge, the road had been lowered to allow vehicles to pass underneath.
