Description
Probably as seen from the State Advances Corporation (S.A.C.) building, so looking west to south west. Construction began in 1977 and was completed in 1980. National MP Derek Quigley QSO officially opened the building on the 20th of February 1981. Also visible in this image is P & M Plaza in the Railway Buildings, with the iconic palm trees in the park alongside; Regency House on the corner of Ward Street and Alexandra (now Worley) Street; the top of the water reservoir on Ruakiwi Street; Waikato Technical Institute buildings on the hill above Anglesea Street; and the underground railway line. Most of the car parking in this photograph is now covered by the Centre Place shopping centre.
