Description
Special constables recruited in Waikato area, parade north along Victoria Street on their way to Auckland. The Great Strike of 1913 was a series of strikes from October 1913 to January 1914. Approximately 15,000 workers across the country went on strike during this time. The special constables were largely farmers and rural labourers who were given the full support of Massey's Government in vanquishing the striking unions.
