Description
Looking across Garden Place towards Alexandra and Caro streets. There are three insurance company buildings visible. On Caro Street is the Royal Insurance Group Building and the National Insurance Company of New Zealand Building. The building in Garden Place closest to Alexandra Street is the New Zealand Insurance building. Next to this is D.I.C., a department store. The Wellington-based company purchased the Victoria Street facing H. & J. Court Ltd and increased its floor space by building the Garden Place facing building. It was the first air-conditioned store in Hamilton city. This building currently houses Hamilton's Central Library.
