Description
Unidentified boy stands back from the loaded cart with a stock whip in his hand at the gates of Punawai the home of T.W.Maunder and family in Tainui St. The produce in the cart appeasr to be squash and possibly watermelon. The ladt is dressed in typically Edwardian suit. Black sox above the knee, tweed shorts to below the knee, matching tweed belted jacket, white shirt with Eton collar, black tie & tweed cap. name plate 'Punawai' is on the gate. View is about south of south east across the hills above the city and the lake.
The road/thoroughfare, (Tainui Street was named in 1919), was referred to by Hamilton Borough Council for some time as 'Maunder's Hill'.
