Object Detail

Description
Looking from Ferry Bank across the Waikato River towards Hamilton East. The recently completed Traffic Bridge dominates the centre of this photograph. Across the bridge, on the southern corner of Bridge Street (now Anzac Parade) and Grey Street, was Thomas Slade's carriage and blacksmith works. The large two-storey house in front was also Slade's. In the far right corner of the image is the Waikato Hotel. Bathers, or rowers, line the ferry bank on the west side and are watched by pedestrians up on the bridge.
