Description
James Moreland McDonnell, born 21 March 1892, was the eldest son of James and Sarah Elizabeth McDonnell of Matamata. Before enlistment he was a farmer. He embarked from Wellington on 31 December 1917 on the Athenic, bound for Glasgow, as a member of E Company, 33rd Reinforcements. He was wounded, and after returning to New Zealand, remained a bachelor until his death on 26 Dec 1972.
